I never thought I would make it to age 80. The odds were not in my favor. Since the age of 70 I have been fraught with health issues that I was sure would transition me to the next realm. Frankly, I was looking forward to it. Some days have been very tough to get through and you long for the hand of God to lift you up and take you home.

I really thought I would be a lot closer to Nirvana (heaven) by now, but what I realized about the spiritual journey is that it is not so much about the destination as it is the journey. What I mean by that is if we concentrate on the destination, we are apt to miss out on important parts of the journey which may be more important than the destination itself. In that sense, the journey is the destination.

Yet, I wonder, what can the Creator still do with the likes of me with a broken-down body? Oh yes, the soul is still intact, and worthy of active meditation and contemplation and the mind still seems to have some active cells that allow me to think deeply and discern probabilities. I am also very comfortable in my skin. However, the mechanics of mobility and balance have been given away to a cane and walker. Job comes to mind, woe is me! Yet, I’ve never been much on self-pity. I mean, really? How bad can it be? No need to even go there.

Nevertheless, at 80, these are some concerns that give me pause:

Privilege and human rights through the lens of Gaza

I think about the Palestinians in war-torn Gaza and their right to exist as a unified people. Israel would like to squash them all, along with the members of Hamas, as Hamas would like to do the same to Israel. Palestinians just want to live in peace with their neighbors, raise a family and enjoy life. I am troubled by the inhumanity shown by Israel to the suffering Palestinians. Granted, the Israeli’s were brutally attacked by Hamas. The problem, it seems to me, is Israel’s prime minister, Netanyahu, who believes he has to eradicate all Palestinians in the same manner that Hitler eradicated the Jews, human rights be damned. It does trouble me that America is supporting the Israeli war effort.

Equally concerning, is the aftermath of the war machine that will leave so much death and destruction. The death toll today is staggering and continues. Palestinians have to search daily for food and water, let alone a place to safely sleep.

Here I am very well off. I don’t have to worry about where my next meal is coming from. Most likely it would not hurt me to miss a meal or two. Water is readily available to me via the many faucets in my home. I have a comfortable bed that I can sleep on at night. I can take Tylenol for my pain, while most of them cannot because it is not available to them. Their mental anguish wondering when the next bomb will explode creates an insecurity that ravishes the soul, not only wondering how they can protect their children but where they can find their next meal. I feel very safe in my own home and only have to go to my cupboard and/or refrigerator. I am the epitome of privilege, and I don’t take it for granted.  I am blessed and have absolutely nothing that I should complain about.

Homelessness and Food Insecurity

According to the Department of Housing and Urban Development, there were over 650,000 homeless in the USA in 2023. These are the ones that have been counted. According to nokidhungry.org, 13 million children are in food insecure families in America. Yes, in America! The real irony is that no person should be homeless or have food insecurities. We have the resources to feed and house EVERYONE! I blame this in part on corporate greed. Reagan’s Trickle-Down Economic theory did not work, has never worked, only making the rich richer and the poor poorer. Yet, the GOP will undoubtedly try it again if they win the House and the Senate.

Politics 2024

Our political environment is getting crazier by the day, so it seems. What is at stake is our big D Democracy over against a dictator fascist regime. It is almost as if the MAGA crowd has “sold their soul to the devil.” I just do not understand how the religious right, the Christian Nationalists and the MAGA crowd are willing to bow down to Trumpism. The words coming out of the mouths of GOP congressmen and senators recently are beyond the pale.

So…………let me tell you what I see happening over the next seven months.

What I am about to share with you is something I have never done before publicly in conversation or in writing. Often, I get intuitive thoughts that I believe come from the Universal Mind. I read, listen and feel the energy and interpret the tea leaves, so to speak. Any of these projections can fail to materialize based on the fact that we all have “free will” and free will often has a mind of its own, contrary to what the energy at present is reading.

With that, I will make the following projections– Believe it or not!

  1. I believe strongly that the candidate called Trump will not win the November election. If he makes it to November 5, he will go down in flames.
  2. I would not be surprised if the July15th Republican National Convention ends up not nominating Trump as their Presidential candidate. Frankly, I have the notion that Trump will not even make it to the convention, let alone the election in November. This could be due most likely to a mental breakdown or a serious health event.  Who do they then nominate? I have no intuitive notion on that, though Nicki Haley is in the wings. Another possibility is that Trump will lose his base of followers because he is now a felon, and even many MAGA’s will decide that a felon should not be president. Current polls are now showing that over half of Americans believe that Trump should no longer run for president. I know at the moment he has raised a lot of money on his guilty verdict and his base seems as strong as ever. However, I believe that will wane.
  3. I also believe that the Dem’s will take over the House and Senate, though by a slim margin. The next four years will be building years, trying to bring the country together and doing the work that needs to be done to salvage a Big D democracy. The Republicans will eventually reinvent themselves into GOP 2.0 and work at getting back to their true conservative values. It will take them many years to build back the trust they sold to Trumpism. Let me also say, there is a slim notion that neither Trump nor Biden will make it to their respective conventions. What happens then? The Universe, other than planting the seed, is quiet on that notion, so I have nothing to say about that.
  4. Regarding the aftermath of a Trump defeat, there will be some pockets of unrest and the cry of “This election was stolen from us!” I don’t believe that there will be a major uprising by the far Right as stronger minds will prevail. Also, the Department of Justice (DOJ) will do a sweep of many of those Trumpers/Republicans who participated in the 2020 insurrection.
  5. I believe that Bibi Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, will lose power and/or will be replaced by the end of this year, 2024. And likewise, a People’s Revolution will oust Putin from Russia.

I believe that the Universe is saying to us, time to get our act together. Back in 2016 many were asking; how bad can it get? The Universe said, “Let me show you” and allowed Trump to move into the White House to perpetrate his nefarious deeds on our democracy. Now, in 2024, it is more important than ever to stand up and fight for the cause of Democracy, not only for America but the world. If Democracy fails here, it could fail worldwide.

The Universe is also saying that just because you are America it will not be handed to you on a silver platter. Just as in the days of the Revolution, you have to want it and fight for it. Today is no different. The Universe has set a path for recovery and unfortunately, or fortunately, it goes through the legacy of Joe Biden. You may not like that choice but as of now, that’s the choice that serves the greater good for our nation.

On Thursday, June 13, 2024, DJ Trump held his unification meeting in the halls of Congress with his Republican accomplices and gave them his marching orders. They couldn’t wait to kiss his ring. Let me tell you, there are going to be some real evil shenanigans that come to play out over the next few months. Don’t get sucked into their negative energy.

If we continue to allow the negative energy of MAGA to subvert the hope and cause of Democracy, our greater good will not be realized in 2024. So, stay resolute, put on your high-octane positive energy hats and send forth “we got this” energy. Encourage your friends and neighbors to vote with reasons why it is so important this time around.

So, in the words of Forrest Gump, “That’s all I have to say about that!”

As 80 years filtrates my being, I will continue to work for the greater good as my circumstances allow.  I leave you with words from social activist Mary Davis:

Blessings, Rev Curt
